Epidermis- Cells Stem Cells- undifferentiated cells that bear up under mitosis to form; Keratinocytes- majority of epidermal calls; synthesise keratin Melanocytes- degree elementarye; synthesize melanin (brown to black pigment) ; keratinocytes phagocytize melanin fragments.-- ex. Light skin melanin is not capacious and is clumped near keratinocyte nucleus. Tactile (Merkel) Cells- touch receptor in basal layer of epidermis and are associated with nerve fibers in the dermis Dendritic (L! angerhans) Cells- found in spinosum and granulosum; macrophages in skin against toxins, microbes, and pathogens.
